Chiraz Abid is a Paris Bar-qualified lawyer and holds a PhD in arbitration law from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne University. She acts as Counsel in both ad hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings (ICC, CRCICA, DIAC, ICSID, AFA). Her expertise covers a wide range of sectors, with particular focus on disputes relating to construction, energy, infrastructure, defense, as well as international sales and transport. She also represents clients before French and Tunisian courts in annulment, enforcement, and stay of enforcement proceedings.
Her clients include state-owned entities, private companies, and multinational corporations. She has extensive experience handling disputes involving the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Her fluency in Arabic, French, and English, combined with her in-depth knowledge of the region’s legal and cultural contexts, allows her to anticipate client needs and deliver tailored representation.
In addition to her Counsel practice, Chiraz also serves as arbitrator, acting as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator, or tribunal president in domestic and international commercial arbitrations (ICC, AFA, CAIP, ArbitrateAD, among others).
In 2024, she was appointed as ICC Tunisa Delegate to the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and joined its Task Force on Artificial Intelligence. She also serves as the French National Representative of the International Bar Association (IBA) Young Lawyers’ Committee.
Before joining MEDICI, Chiraz practiced for over six years at a leading French law firm specializing in construction disputes and arbitration, including a secondment to Rome. She previously spent five years teaching law at French universities. Since 2020, she has been teaching international arbitration at the Paris Bar School (EFB) and frequently speaks at international conferences and seminars.
